The sand at the beach area is disgusting. Full of cigarette butts, pop tops, dog feces, used profalactics, etc....Sad. The camp ground area looked okay.

Haved stayed here 3 times now. Campground is nice with flat paved roads. Not a lot of leveling involved to set up. Bathrooms are cleaned daily. Campsite is also cleaned daily (picking up sticks, debris etc). Im sitting on the beach right now after labor day weekend and there is no trash on the beach. I'm not sure what those other reviews are crying about. The wood is $3 a bundle...thats cheap. If you dont like the price, go cut down a tree, then split it. $3 is a bargain. There is a shower house/bathroom that is nice. Also 4 porto johnnies in thw campground too.Trains can be a little annoying but they arent that frequent. Maybe 2 a day?? Rangers do a pretty good job of enforcing the rules. Camp host is a nice guy. If you want a beach spot get here by Wednesday. The camp spot sizes vary quite a bit. Some are very large while some are small. If you look at a satellite view you can see. Only reason i didnt give it a 5 is because they dont have water at every site. You have to fill up your tank then unhook from the water. Not a huge deal but to elderly people or people who have mobility problems this may be a deal breaker. Overall a nice place to camp.

Minor flooding due to being on the Mississippi but quiet with families around sharing a good time and the rangers walking by every once in a while, incredibly relaxing

Great place, great sites, great view, all til you get the drama of people shooting up in the bathroom and illegal fireworks being set off under your campers. Oh ya the park ranger being a a**hole to outsiders.

It has a sand beach but the water is the Mississippi River so it is dirty. We enjoy digging up clams and enjoying a hot day here. Only a port o potty but gas station is close by if that is a put off. Often people fishing here so it is hit or miss. Not bad for cheap entertainment for the kids tho.
